Marcus Paul joins Jets

Marcus Paul, former member of the New England Patriots, joins the New York Jets as Coach of Physical Development. As a member of the Patriots, Paul was part of the coordinator of player programs. He also worked very closely with Mike Woicik in the strength and conditioning areas.

Paul got his start as a ballplayer. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears back in 1989 and played for them for 5 years before he moved on to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Paul progressed to coaching in 1998, where he worked under Mike Ditka’a staff with the New Orleans Saints.

New News

The New York Jets recently announced the appointment of John Zernhelt. Zernhelt, who will be having his first year with the Jets, has been head coach of the Citadel Bulldogs. He has helped mold some fine players during his time with the Bulldogs. The Jets hired him on as the tight end coach after years of coaching college ball. Zernhelt has been with such teams as James Madison (99-02), South Carolina (96-98), Duke University (94-95), Rice University (92-93), East Carolina University (87-91), Marshall University (1981) and Ferrum University (77-80).

In addition, Dick Curl is moving up the ranks in coaching command. He becomes the new assistant to the Head Coach. Curl is on his third season with the Jets. Last year, Curl was the senior offensive assistant/special projects coach. He began his career with the Jets in March 2003.
